Amigurumi originates in Japan and is a form of crocheting and knitting used to make stuffed animals and toys. The name comes from the Japanese words ‘ami’ meaning crocheted or knitting and ‘nuigurumi’ which means stuffed doll. Amigurumi is usually crocheted on smaller than unusual crochet hooks to make sure that the stuffing doesn’t show through as the fabric is very tightly crocheted.
